Seedling Enrichment Program

Seedlings is a weekly drop-off program for children ages
5 to 8, led by Amy Rupp. It focuses on hands-on learning, nature connection, and social-emotional development.

I follow a rhythm that supports a child’s natural desire to explore, learn, play, and build continues relationships with the same group of peers.

Drop-off Rhythm

Our days are gently balanced between indoor and outdoor experiences.

About half of our time is spent indoors, where children play games, dive into imaginative worlds, create through hands-on crafting, and take part in seasonal activities that reflect the rhythms of the year.

Outdoor time is devoted to exploring and playing in our beloved 22-acre nature space near my home. Here, children move freely, observe the living world around them, and build a deep, embodied connection to place through unstructured play and guided exploration.

A core vision of Amy’s work is to build meaningful relationships across generations. Seedlings children visit Maple Springs Retirement Center throughout the month, spending time with residents through shared activities like stories, art, music, and simple conversations.

We also regularly connect with neighbors in our community, including elders we greet and visit with in the park during our outdoor learning days.

Amy invites community members to share something they love, whether it’s a story, a skill, a craft, a lifelong interest, or a simple moment of presence.

These visits and shared experiences create gentle mentorship opportunities, where children learn through listening, observing, and participating alongside older adults.

This approach honors elders as valuable teachers and keeps their wisdom present in everyday life, while helping children feel seen, respected, and connected to the wider community.

Currently home to 30 members, this community is growing, with new threads popping up regularly to support Nature Song’s mission of building a thoughtful, intentional network of support for families and individuals in Anchorage. Members can find threads for gift exchanges, Saturday meetups, biking pods, local resources, and Anchorage events, creating an ever-evolving hub for collaboration and support among like-minded families.
