Care Giver Resources
Many of us were taught only the basics about our bodies, if that—but this is changing. We now understand so much more about the female body, including hormones, the nervous system, moods, energy, and overall wellness.
Learning about natural cycles early, and noticing how individual bodies respond to the menstrual cycle, is empowering and important. Tracking rhythms and paying attention to body cues lays the foundation for a lifetime of self-care and well-being. It also helps young people recognize early signs that may need attention and gives them confidence to communicate with healthcare providers.
While this workshop does not cover sex, it introduces basic biology of how the female body functions. Children learn that the body releases an egg each month, and if it is not fertilized, the uterus naturally sheds its lining. Understanding this process helps young people see their bodies as remarkable systems and builds a foundation for future health literacy.
The Four Inner Seasons
In addition to the menstrual cycle, children are introduced to the concept of the inner seasons, a framework for understanding how the body naturally changes throughout the month. These phases follow hormonal shifts and reflect different energies, moods, and strengths.
Learning about the inner seasons helps young people recognize and honor their own patterns, supporting self-understanding and confidence. This concept is explored in more depth during the optional Parent Zoom session, where parents can learn how to support their child’s and celebrate the unique qualities of each phase.
Understanding cycles is not just about menstruation or the names of the female reproductive system, it is about learning to honor and care for our bodies in ways that support long-term health and empowerment.
