Seedlings: A Homeschool
Enrichment Program

Seedlings is a drop-off program for children ages 5 to 8, rooted in connection, play, learning and belonging.

Indoor Play and Learning

About half of our time is spent indoors, where children play games, dive into imaginative worlds, create through hands-on crafting, and take part in seasonal activities that reflect the rhythms of the year. Through storytelling, projects, discussions, and creative expression, children will also explore social studies and science topics connected to our seasonal themes, local history, geography, and the broader world around them.

Outdoor Experience

Outdoor time is devoted to exploring and playing in our beloved 22-acre nature space near my home. Here, children move freely, observe the living world around them, and build an embodied connection to place through unstructured play and guided exploration. Our outdoor classroom also serves as a living laboratory where children investigate natural systems, practice observation skills, ask questions, conduct simple experiments, and deepen their understanding of science through firsthand experience.

Intergenerational

A core vision of Amy’s work is to build meaningful relationships across generations. Seedlings children visit Maple Springs Retirement Center throughout the month, spending time with residents through shared activities like stories, art, music, and simple conversations.

We also regularly connect with neighbors in our community, including elders we greet and visit with in the park during our outdoor learning days. Amy invites community members to share something they love, whether it’s a story, a skill, a craft, a lifelong interest, or a simple moment of presence.

These visits and shared experiences create gentle mentorship opportunities, where children learn through listening, observing, and participating alongside older adults.
