Seasonal Celebrations at Nature Song

Several years ago, I began celebrating the changing seasons with the first families of Nature Song. These gatherings became a way to honor the rhythms of the earth while deepening our relationships and fostering a sense of community.

What started with a handful of families has grown into something co-created by many, as traditions are passed down within the Forest Collective and Generation Circle. Each year, these celebrations weave a stronger tapestry of connection and shared experience.

We are learning that co-created traditions bring a deeper sense of fulfillment than simply attending as a participant. This collaborative spirit sparks something powerful—a feeling of being seen, valued, and rooted in something greater than ourselves.

Looking ahead, my dream is to continue to nurture this way of coming together.

Take a look at glimpses of past celebrations and gatherings that have brought joy and connection to many.

Pumpkin Village Walk: Held in autumn, this event invites families to create a magical pumpkin village by carving and decorating pumpkins. As night falls, families walk through the village, enjoying the warm glow of the pumpkins and the beauty of nature in the crisp air.

Lantern Walks: A tradition during the darker months, Lantern Walks involve families walking together with handcrafted lanterns, lighting the way as they explore the outdoors. This gentle event offers a time for reflection and connection, highlighting the beauty of nature in the evening.

Solstice Spirals: Celebrated during the winter solstice, this event offers a moment to honor the longest night of the year. Families walk a spiral path lit by candles, symbolizing the return of the light. It is a quiet, introspective ceremony that marks the turning of the seasons and the hope of new beginnings.

Valentine’s Tea: A sweet celebration of love and friendship, Valentine’s Tea brings families together to enjoy tea, treats, and meaningful conversation. This event fosters an atmosphere of appreciation, where families can express love and gratitude for one another.

Easter Bunny Nests: In the spring, families participate in a playful scavenger hunt where children search for nests filled with colorful eggs left by the Easter Bunny. It’s a fun and lively event that brings joy to both children and adults as they celebrate the renewal of the season.

May Day Festivities: A lively celebration of spring’s arrival, May Day includes dancing around the Maypole, singing, and enjoying the beauty of nature as it comes to life. This event marks a time of rebirth and growth, where families come together to celebrate the earth’s cycles and the vibrant energy of new beginnings.
