Our First Learning Adventure Takes Place in the Orchard!
Together, we will dive into the fascinating world of bees!
Pick and Choose How You Learn:
There will be several options for how you engage with the day’s activities:
Scientist Talk:
Learn from a bee expert who’s been successfully managing hives for three decades. He’ll teach us about the life of bees, their importance in our ecosystem, and how to care for them. With his new observation hive, we’ll get a rare chance to see the bees up close and observe their amazing behavior.Nature Journals:
Bring your own journal, or purchase one to begin documenting our learning journey across Anchorage and its surrounding parks. I will provide examples of how to creatively capture your observations, thoughts, and questions. This is an opportunity to reflect and grow as we explore, and we’ll share our ideas and discoveries together. Adults participation in their own journaling is encouraged.Build a Bee with Nature Objects:
Let’s get creative! Use natural materials to build your very own bee. From leaves and twigs to stones and flowers. Labeling our creations as a way to solidify bee vocabulary.Sensory Bins (for younger ones):
For younger learners, we’ll have bee-themed sensory bins where they can scoop and explore, creating a playful introduction to the world of bees through hands-on exploration.Group Games:
Group games are the perfect way to have fun and build connections! Join in for a few friendly activities designed to strengthen relationships while learning together.
