A Letter To You

Dear Root Sisters,

The inspiration for Nature Song Collective came from a women’s circle that I had the honor to be a part of for several years. Over time, this circle built a space of openness, reflection, and authenticity, that nurtured our creativity and excitement around sharing our gifts, interests, and ideas with others.

We started creating things for the public and ourselves that was nurturing and enriching like singing circles, ecstatic dance gatherings, weekly potlucks to practice Compassionate Communication. A few women came together to offer grief circles and I co-organized storytelling gatherings with the support of Samantha Feemster. Several women even started their own soulful businesses during this time.

Looking back I’m struck at all that was created during those years and I can’t help but think that it had a lot to do with the connections and support that was felt within the group as well as the reflective and personal growth that came from coming together once a month to participate in contemplative practices. We had come together to meet our need for connection and in doing so, a support system for creativity and personal growth emerged.

I now believe that when we connect in intimate, authentic, joyful ways there’s a ripple of magic that trickles from these relationships. The sharing is the important part. I have seen over and over how one act of sharing creates a ripple of change in other people’s lives and how this change carries over and over. It’s amazing!

I am interested in creating the foundation to support a large network of women. One that comes together to share and learn together. To practice the art of giving and receiving. To explore our inner-landscapes so that when we go out into our everyday lives we can kick-butt! Each of us has something special to share and not one of us has it all figured out. That is why a collective is so powerful!

If you would like to interconnect your life with other women in South Central Alaska, I invite you to attend a gathering organized by Forest Roots or become a member of our online community. It’s free to join for the first few months, after that membership goes to the creation of programming within our community.

Love,

Amy Rupp
