Watch out! We're dreaming big.

The collective stands on three pillars: initiators, gatherings, and crews.

Initiators

The initiators are the stewards of the collective that work together to help it grow and expand. They embody the qualities that nurture personal growth and change and have a courageous heart to openly explore, learn and grow on a personal and collective level. We are currently looking for individuals to join the stewardship team and social artist program.

We are also looking for individuals who are interested in becoming partners of the collective. Creating a collective such as this is a learning experiment that has the means to make a dramatic difference in the lives of many. It needs individuals who see the potential and are interesting in showing up and sharing their energy and excitement!

Gatherings and Projects

Our gatherings and projects function as the glue that holds our collective together.

  • Twice a year we come together for a 3-day retreat to connect, learn and have fun.

  • .We call on social artist in our community to facilitate and share their creativity through art, music and storytelling in local storytelling events.

  • Monthly, in-person nature-based gatherings. We currently offer a women circle open to
Forest Roots members and are looking for men to interested in coming together once a month. (We hope this becomes one of our first crews!)

  • Events put on by collective members or crews.

Crews

Crews are the building blocks of the collective. Each crew is made up of 6 to 8 individuals that come together regularly for a shared purpose which are often project based or relational focused. Every 6-months, starts a new “crewing cycle”and membership partners are encouraged to invite one or two new members to the collective as friends. We ask that new and old members join us for a 3-day retreat to develop relationships and to form new crews based on common interests and projects. Each crew decides independently on when and how they will meet. At the end of the 6 month cycle, individuals determine if they want to continue together or start or join an existing crew.

Here is a great example of crew development by the The Rocky Mountain Mutual Aid Network.

Crews focus on a variety of interests, ideas, and projects. As we continue to grow as a collective we hope to represent the diversity, passions and creativity of those who live in our community.

What do you want to personally learn and how can you do this with others?
What community minded activities would you enjoy participating in?
What projects are you currently working on that you’d like to share with others?

This list is just the beginning! Exploration and ideas can range from the simple to the complex. What we know from experience is when we connect with others through small crews, the trust built opens us to new ways of thinking and exploring life.

Share your ideas on the form below and we will add your ideas to the list.
