Mud Camp - Session II

To Register: https://naturesong.as.me/

How old does my child have to be to attend Mud Camp? Camp is for children ages 5 to 13. We love the dynamics that are created when children of different ages come together. Older camps, have the opportunity to become leaders and teachers. While younger campers, bring their excitement and sense of play. The combination is special and creates a wonderful community. There’s plenty to do for all ages!

How many campers are in each group?  Enrollment is limited to 10 campers.

Who is the camp leader?  Amy Rupp will be leading Sand Camp. She loves jumping off of sandbanks and digging tunnels in the sand. She brings fourteen years of of working with children to create an enriching and joyful experience for all.

What will the kids be doing?

-Camp Routine
-Meet and greet/walk into the woods
-Morning circle/nature games/invitation to explore)
-Wanderings/exploration activity
-Afternoon reflection circle
-Walk out of forrest/parent pickup

Morning Circle
After the outward energy of arrival, circle is an opportunity to connect with each other and build excitement for the day ahead. There are typically three parts to our daily circle: sharing gratitude, nature games and the introduction of our daily provocation(s).

Wilderness Games: There are many wonderful games and activities that can be used to expand our connection to nature and ourselves.  Games are used to introduce core routines, build independence, sensory awareness, and knowledge of primitively skills and are used to learn about the animals, plants and landscapes around us. Best of all...they are fun!!

Exploration Activity: At the end of each circle, a provocation will be offered to campers that expands on a thought, project, idea or interest. Provocations are open-ended and optional and provide an invitation for a child to explore and/or express themselves through their senses. Provocations are used to inspire creativity and/or discovery.

Examples:

An interesting photo
An nature specimen
A question
Materials that could be used in play, scientific discover, art. etc.
A journaling opportunity
Expansion on an activity or interest from the day before

Wanderings
The opportunity for personal growth through during our daily wanderings is immeasurable. Wanders happen in solitude (under my careful watch of course) or as groups, and always offers children rare moments of silence to hear their own voice, spark or breath. These wanderings provoke an abundance of questions, an invitation to learn more, and develop deeper. It allows young minds the opportunity to embrace curiosity, and feel a sense of belonging within the landscape and within a group.

Afternoon Reflection Circle

Afternoon reflection circle involves reflecting on what we have done during our time together. It is an opportunity to build community by talking about shared and personal experiences and to tuck these experiences into our memories.
